School employee hurt in La Consolacion College fire

An employee was injured in a fire that broke out at La Consolacion College along Mendiola Street in Manila on Wednesday, November 13.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Ray Ruiz, 32, sustained laceration wound on his right arm.

Authorities said the victim slipped on the stairs when he rushed down to avoid being suffocated by the smoke from the burning room.

Based on the initial report, the fire started at 9:30 a.m. on the second floor of the school's solar building and was extinguished at 9:54 a.m. 

Investigators said around P144,000 worth of property was damaged in the incident.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, the BFP added.
