Rape suspect nabbed after 3 years in hiding


BUTUAN CITY – Police have arrested the second most wanted person in General Santos City who had been hiding in the past three years in General Luna town, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte province.

Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) Director Police Col. Nilo T. Texon identified the suspect as 26-year-old Mark, who faces two counts of statutory rape.

Police Regional Office-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Alan M. Nazarro said the suspect’s warrants were issued by the 12th Judicial Region, Branch II, Dapa, General Santos City, on Aug. 1, 2021.

No bail was recommended for the suspect, Texon said.

“I commend the effort and dedication of our operating troops for arresting this wanted individual who had been hiding for three years after committing the crime,” Texon said.

“This is a clear testament that the PNP will not stop until individuals with outstanding warrants are put behind bars.”

PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said the suspect is under the custody of the General Luna MPS for proper disposition.
