Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic’’ C. Remulla called on the local officials of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and two other regions in Northern Luzon to have all their resources ready for Tropical Storm “Ofel.”
"Dadaan sa inyo si 'Ofel' (Ofel will pass through your areas). Please take note of our advisories such as preemptive evacuation, geohazards, among others. We will follow the same protocols," Remulla said.
In a memorandum, the DILG urged all concerned local government units (LGUs), especially in CAR, Ilocos Region and the Cagayan Valley Region, to ensure emergency response teams, rescue units, and relevant personnel are alert and fully equipped to respond to emergencies.
Remulla advised the concerned parties “to preposition rescue equipment and relief goods in strategic locations for rapid deployment and identify and prioritize the communities living in flood- and landslide-prone areas.’’
He also commended the CAR, Regions 1 and 2 officials for tallying a zero-casualty record in the recent TS Nika onslaught.
