Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan inaugurated the new Vitas Slaughterhouse regulated by the City’s Veterinary Inspection Board (VIB).
She said the Vitas Slaughterhouse has modern facilities designed to process up to 300 large animals and 400 hogs daily.
It is forecasted to generate up to P64 million in revenues for the city.
The slaughtering fee per head of cattle is pegged at P400, while for each hog, the fee is P200.
According to VIB, the modern process prioritizes efficiency and reduces stress on the animals through animal welfare standards.
The mayor also opened the new Animal Clinic and Rescue Center in Tondo, where 37 new cages for dogs and cats were installed.
It also offers free vaccination services, emergency care, routine check-ups, x-rays, ultrasound scans and pet crematorium.
