This year’s “International Bazaar” opened with fanfare at the World Trade Center in Pasay City on November 3, 2024, bringing together global cultures for a noble cause under the theme “Shop Global, Help Local”. With an array of unique international products from embassies and consulates, this year’s bazaar was not only a chance to celebrate diversity but also an opportunity to give back to the local community.
The day began with the arrival of esteemed guests, including International Bazaar Foundation Inc. (IBF) Chair Madame Pamela Louise Manalo, who welcomed attendees with an inspiring speech emphasizing the power of cross-cultural support. "Every transaction you make today will help give hope to people in need," she expressed, encouraging shoppers to view their purchases as a form of giving.
Featuring an impressive array of more than 180 booths, each highlighting the finest products of 40 participating countries and world-class merchandise from 56 “Philippines’ Best Exhibitors,” World Trade Center’s Halls B and C were transformed into a vibrant tapestry of cultures for the highly-anticipated “International Bazaar”. Organized by IBF, in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs, the diplomatic and consular corps, and Spouses of the Heads of Mission (SHOM), the “International Bazaar” is an annual tradition marking the beginning of the holiday season.
The event's guest of honor, Pasay City Mayor Imelda “Emi” G. Calixto-Rubiano, delivered a heartfelt message, celebrating Pasay as the home of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the International Bazaar Foundation (IBF). Mayor Calixto-Rubiano noted the city’s commitment to fostering a sense of international community while emphasizing Pasay’s role in supporting charitable initiatives through events such as the “International Bazaar”.
The bazaar's theme "Shop Global, Help Local" reflects the dedication to supporting numerous charity projects led by the IBF and the SHOM. From empowering abused women to providing shelter for the homeless, care for the elderly, and education for deserving children, the foundation’s initiatives have made a lasting impact on marginalized communities. With every purchase, attendees contributed to these projects, exemplifying the spirit of unity and care that the bazaar champions.
Also in attendance, were Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique A. Manalo, IBF President Consul Betty Ang, SHOM Chair for the International Bazaar Michelle Hejcova, members of the IBF Board of Trustees, and representatives of the diplomatic and consular communities, among others.
Cultural performances by the resident chorale of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassies of Argentina, India, and Indonesia, added a vibrant, multicultural atmosphere.
The ‘International Bazaar 2024 ’ proved to be a celebration of global unity, community support, and charitable giving—a day where shopping transformed into a meaningful gesture of compassion, spreading hope to those in need in the heart of Pasay City. Established in 1966, the IBF, now in its 58th year, remains committed to its mission of uplifting disadvantaged sectors through charitable activities, while fostering stronger bonds within the international community.
