“The hearty batchoy is a popular Filipino soup consisting of pork offal, chicken or beef stock, and fresh round egg noodles. Generously seasoned with shrimp paste and (occasionally) soy sauce, the soup is usually topped with pork cracklings, fried garlic, and a raw egg,” said TasteAtlas.

The batchoy, believed to have originated at La Paz District here, is the only Filipino dish included in the list of soups made mainly from offal or internal organs.

“From La Paz, batchoy spread to other parts of the country to become one of the most famous Filipino soup dishes,” TasteAtlas added.

Batchoy received a rating of 4.1 stars. The Kelle paça çorbası (sheep head soup) of Turkey also obtained the same rating.

TasteAtlas also listed iconic batchoy restaurants here – Netong’s, Deco’s, and Ted’s.
