Former Manila mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso stressed that the construction of the Dr. Alejandro Albert Elementary School (DAAES) in Sampaloc, Manila, considered as one of the country's largest public schools, was made to give a bright and prosperous future to the city's youth regardless of their social and financial status.
"Sabi nila Eddie at Patty, bakit daw sobrang ganda at laki naman ng mga pinagawa nating school sa Maynila? Bakit po, dapat ba 'yung mema lang --- may masabing nagawa lang (Eddie and Patty asked "Why have you made such a beautiful and large school in Manila?" Why? Should we just build mediocre ones just to show that we have accomplished something?)," Domagoso said in his Facebook post.
"Gagawin na rin naman natin, maglalaan na tayo ng oras at pondo. Ibigay na natin sa taumbayan 'yung pinaka the best na serbisyo because the people deserve nothing but the best! Pera din naman nila 'yan eh. Ibinabalik lang natin sa pamamagitan ng masinop at de kalidad na pasilidad (Since we are doing this for the people, then let's exert time and funds for it to be the best. Let's give them the best public service possible because the people deserve nothing but the best! The money we are using for these projects came from their taxes, hence, let's give it back to them through wise spending and giving them world-class facilities for their benefit)," he added.
Built during his tenure as Manila mayor, DAAES boasts 234 fully air-conditioned classrooms, a gymnasium with 334 seating capacity, 72 comfort rooms, 28 admin offices, 10 elevators, a library, a canteen, a sports and exercise area on the roofdeck, outdoor basketball courts, and a football field.
The school also has an auditorium with a 364-seat capacity, which is located on the eighth floor of the building.
It was opened on April 8, 2024.
