Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is preparing for the exciting conclusion of its premier motorsports season with Race Weekend 3 of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup (TGR Philippine Cup), scheduled for November 9 at Clark International Speedway in Pampanga. This final leg will determine the season winners, making it the year's most anticipated event for fans and competitors alike.
Free admission and shuttle services
Admission to Race Weekend 3 is completely free, offering fans a chance to experience live racing excitement. TMP will also provide a free shuttle service between SM Clark and Clark International Speedway, operating every hour from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for added convenience. For those unable to attend in person, the action will be live-streamed on the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines Facebook page starting at 9 a.m.
Weekend events overview
The weekend will commence with sprint races across multiple classes: Novice, Promotional, Sporting, and Super Sporting. Racers will earn points based on their finishing positions, and the racer with the highest points at the end of this final round will be crowned the overall season champion. In the Novice class, former Autocross racers, Reph Bangsil and Lexi Mendiola, are set to return, joined by a mix of media personalities and sim racers, including Jamil Lacuna, Jose Altoveros, Pablo Salapantan, John Rey San Diego, and Russel Reyes. TMP President, Masando Hashimoto, will also compete in the Vios OMR, the official one-make-race car for the series. Currently, Russel Reyes leads the Novice standings, followed by Lacuna and San Diego. Team TGR Philippines racers, Ryan Agoncillo and Troy Montero, will be competing in the Sporting and Super Sporting classes, respectively, alongside some of the country’s top racers. Notably, newcomer Will Lucas is making his debut in the Sporting class after being selected through TMP’s driver tryouts, emphasizing TMP's commitment to nurturing young talent in motorsports.
Class leaders and standings
In the Super Sporting class, Iñigo Anton from the Toyota Balintawak - Obengers Racing Team, currently leads the standings, followed by Russel Cabrera of Team Toyota Cebu and Red Diwa of JBT Racing / Toyota Isabela. In the Sporting class, Jiro Garbes of Inbox - Toyota San Fernando holds the top position, with Jarond Mesina of Team Toyota Cebu in second and Danzel Waytan of JD Motorsports - Ribbon Arc in third. In the Promotional class, Bong Garbes of Inbox – Toyota San Fernando leads, with Julia Delos Angeles from Toyota San Jose Del Monte, Inc. – Obengers Racing Team in second and Rex Abrenilla of Team Toyota Cebu in third.
Exciting activities for fans
Following the sprint races, a car club track day will allow GR performance car owners to experience the speedway. Fans of the GR Supra, GR Yaris, and GR 86 can witness these performance vehicles in action during the mid-afternoon. There will also be a drifting exhibition featuring professional drifters Dane Cruz and Hans Jimenez, who will showcase their skills in the GR 86. A few lucky fans might even get the chance to ride along in the GR 86, GR Yaris, or GR Supra for a high-speed lap around the track. The day will culminate in the final endurance race of the season, a 1.5-hour event that will challenge racers in the Novice, Promotional, Sporting, and Super Sporting classes. Points earned in this endurance race will contribute to the overall standings and determine the ultimate season champions.
More fan activities
Fans can also participate in various activities off the track. The TGR GT Cup experience booth will allow attendees to try their hand at sim racing. Additionally, sponsor booths will showcase original products, and game booths will offer prizes, along with official Toyota Gazoo Racing merchandise for sale. “It’s the last race weekend of the season, so we are working to make it the most thrilling one yet. We have many activities planned, both on track and in the activity area, and we hope fans can come and experience the 'fun to drive' spirit with us,” said TMP Vice President for Marketing Services, Elvin Luciano.
