Cops: COC filing in Cordillera peaceful


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – The Police Regional Office-Cordillera said on Wednesday, October 9, that the week-long filing of Certificates of Candidacy in the Cordillera region from October 1 to 8 was generally peaceful.

PRO-Cordillera chief Police Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr. thanked the 2,796 policemen deployed to secure the proceedings for their efforts.

He also thanked the people and candidates for cooperating with security measures and partner units for their assistance.

The Commission on Elections-Cordillera said 1,457 candidates filed COCs for various positions in the region.

Two-hundred twenty-four were candidates for provincial and city board member – Benguet, 34; Mountain Province, 31; Kalinga, 25; Abra, 29; Apayao, 17; Ifugao, 30, and Baguio City, 58.

On the other hand, there are 1,233 candidates for mayor, vice mayor, and municipal councilors in the Cordillera.
