Marbil: Around ₱39.8-B drugs seized under PBBM administration


Around ₱39.8 billion worth of illegal drugs were seized under the administration of President Marcos, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said the seized illegal drugs were confiscated in more than 109,000 operations from July 1, 2022 to Oct. 7 this year, adding that the operations also resulted in the arrest of 137,190 individuals involved in drug-related activities.

“This impressive achievement underscores the PNP’s unwavering commitment to the fight against illegal drugs, protecting communities, and upholding the rule of law,” said Marbil.

The most significant haul during the period, according to Marbil, includes shabu, with a street value of ₱35.4 billion followed by marijuana with ₱1.45 billion worth of dried leaves and ₱2.57 billion in marijuana plants. 

The PNP also confiscated ₱161.3 million worth of cocaine, ₱21.5 million worth of ecstasy, ₱4.5 million worth of kush marijuana, and ₱243.4 million worth of ketamine, contributing to a total drug seizure value of ₱39,868,229,892.46. 

Under his term as Chief PNP, Marbil said 25,312 operations were conducted and resulted in the arrest of 30,888 individuals and confiscation of ₱17.2 billion worth of illegal drugs. 

During this period, the PNP confiscated ₱15.39 billion worth of shabu, ₱417.9 million worth of dried marijuana leaves, ₱1.15 billion in marijuana plants, ₱4.2 million worth of cocaine, ₱9.5 million worth of ecstasy, and ₱243.4 million worth of ketamine.

Among the PNP units, the Drug Enforcement Group (PNP DEG) led the anti-drug campaign, confiscating ₱13.77 billion worth of illegal drugs over the two-year period. 

The Police Regional Office 4A (PRO 4A) followed with ₱10.39 billion in seizures, while the Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) contributed ₱5.82 billion to the total.
