Nograles submitted his Certificate of Candidacy before the Commission on Elections-Davao City at past 9 a.m. along with her sister, Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta party-list Rep. Margarita "Migs" Nograles, for first district congresswoman here opposite Rep. Paolo Duterte.

Nograles said that he resigned from his post to offer his years of experience in government to his hometown.

He said the people of Davao deserve the opportunity to choose in this pivotal moment in this city's history.

“Today, I let you decide my fate. But not without first trying to convince your minds and let you know how it is to have a choice; to win your hearts and make you feel how it is to have a chance; and to earn your support so I can lead you to the change that you so deserve,” Karlo said.

He said that as the head of the CSC, he had seen best practices and observed the implementation of much-needed reforms that helped improve the delivery of public services to the people.

Karlo added that his work at CSC has further strengthened his motivation to return to Davao City.

Sacked

Meanwhile, the Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod headed by Mayor Sebastian Duterte has removed city councilors Bernard Al-ag of the first district, Wilberto Al-ag of the third district, and two barangay captains for actively supporting the Tingog party-list, a political entity not aligned with the local party.

In a statement on Monday, October 7, Duterte said the two councilors and Barangays Toril Proper Captain Lilibeth Al-ag and Bankas Heights Captain Bernadette Al-ag were sacked after careful deliberation.

Duterte added that they were removed in line with Article 7 on party discipline and loss of membership, specifically Section 6, which outlines the grounds for automatic expulsion.

Article 7, Section 6 (b), states that “assisting other political parties who are not Hugpong members in furthering their political aim without prior approval of the party.”

“The HTLP remains committed to upholding its values and principles, guided by our constitution and by-laws,” Duterte said.

He said their involvement in activities promoting the interests of the Tingog party-list, rather than the HTLP’s agenda, constitutes a direct violation and betrayal of the party’s rules and principles.

The city mayor thanked the members and supporters of the HTLP for their continued trust as they move forward with unwavering dedication to their goals.

Duterte encouraged all Hugpong members to remain steadfast in their commitment to the party’s vision as they continue to work together for the city's service.
