Regional Travel Fair in General Santos City generates over ₱385 million in sales leads

On its 13th run, the Regional Travel Fair concluded its successful run in General Santos City after garnering over ₱385 million in sales leads and ₱21 million in actual negotiated sales. Taking place last Sept. 27 to 29, strong connections were formed between industry stakeholders while also showcasing the SOCCSKSARGEN region’s potential as a premier travel destination.

Organized by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines, the RTF is integral to promoting domestic tourism. During these events, a light is shed on the various attractions and services of host regions. 

 

“We are delighted with the results of this year’s Regional Travel Fair,” shares TPB chief operating officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles. “The strong sales figures underscore a growing interest in domestic tourism, particularly in underexplored areas like SOCCSKSARGEN. This event has illustrated the region’s vast potential, and we eagerly anticipate more travelers discovering its hidden treasures.”

 

Business-to-business sessions took place at the Green Leaf Hotel during the RTF. Over 135 sellers from all over the country interacted with 50 buyers to nurture partnerships and discuss rising travel trends. Local tourism officials also provided important updates and insights regarding the region’s attractions and tourism offerings.

Meanwhile, at SM City General Santos, business-to-consumer sessions took place from Sept. 28 to 29, attracting over 4,000 visitors. Local artisan products were being offered alongside exclusive deals on tour packages, airline tickets, and accommodations. Cultural performances and activities, like travel bingo and a tourism quiz bee, took place as DOT regional offices and event partners revealed the newest tourism updates.

 

Present as well were esteemed guests from all over like DOT Asec. Judilyn S. Quiachon, DOT Region XII director Nelia R. Arina, BARMM Bureau of Tourism director Engr. Marites Maguindra, and TPB acting deputy COO for marketing and promotions Teresita D.L. Landan, and  General Santos City Mayor Lorelie G. Pacquiao represented by Evelyn Lim.

After the successful B2B and B2C sessions, participants, media, and influencers embarked on a post-event tour showcasing some of the region's premier attractions, including the General Santos City Fish Port Complex, CCT Malungon Retreat & Training Center, and the scenic eco-tourism destination of Lake Sebu. Overall, it highlighted the region’s commitment to sustainable and community-focused tourism initiatives.

 

The successful execution of the 13th RTF in General Santos was made possible through collaborative efforts with DOT Region XII, the City of General Santos, the Province of South Cotabato, and partners including 2GO, Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and SM City General Santos.

Looking ahead, TPB is excited to announce the next edition of the Regional Travel Fair, which will take place in Roxas City from Oct. 18 to 20. This upcoming fair promises even greater opportunities for tourism stakeholders and travelers to explore the rich diversity and beauty the Philippines has to offer.
