POLICE Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr. (second from right), Police Regional Office-Cordillera chief, turns over the command flag to newly appointed Baguio City Police Office chief Police Col. Ruel Tagel (right), during the assumption ceremony on October 8 witnessed by Mayor Benjamin Magalong (seated) and outgoing BCPO chief Police Col. Francisco Bulwayan Jr. (Zaldy Comanda)

Tagel assumed the position in in a turnover ceremony on Tuesday, October 8, attended by Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Police Regional Office-Cordillera chief Police Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr.

A native of Benguet and member of  the Philippine National Police Academy Class 2002, Tagel was battalion commander of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-15 before his appointment here.

Magalong thanked Bulwayan for being an excellent leader of the BCPO.

He asked Tagel to continue Bulwayan’s programs and projects especially on peace and order.

Magalong urged the BCPO to support Tagel.

"It was not me who chose Tagel as city director, but the regional headquarters, because as a former regional director, I don't want politicians to choose who they want to put in the position. I don't want politics to interfere with our police force. I am only asking the entire BCPO police force to support their new leader," Magalong said.

Tagel revealed his plans for the BCPO.

"We will intensify the police visibility in the barangays, places where our tourists go especially in the central business area, because this is a big help in our peace and order. The traffic problem also needs police presence and increasing our campaign against illegal drugs,” said Tagel.
