From humble beginnings
in Zamboanga City, Forest Lake have grown to 37 parks nationwide.

“We started in 1997 when we developed land offered to us into a memorial park. We noted the need for building efficiently designed, affordable, well-maintained, and dignified memorial parks, so Forest Lake was founded with a vision of making quality memorial care accessible to all Filipinos,” shares Forest Lake Development Inc. President and CEO Alfred Xerez-Burgos III.

"Memorial parks play a crucial role in the lives of Filipinos. They offer families a peaceful, dignified space to remember and honor their loved ones. In our culture, where family is everything, these parks provide a place to reconnect with memories, offering comfort during times of grief. As the President and CEO of Forest Lake Development Inc., I’ve had the privilege of leading a company that focuses on an essential part of life—memorial care. Celebrating and immortalizing the memory of our loved ones down the generations has become my profession’s purpose,” adds Xerez-Burgos III.

He then pursued a master's degree in Management at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) to sharpen his leadership acumen. “Over the years, I’ve held leadership roles in various sectors, but my passion for creating value for people and communities found its perfect match at Forest Lake. Here, we’re not just delivering memorial estates; we provide services that resonate deeply with Filipino families.”

The parks are well maintained with clean restrooms, water sprinkler systems, drainage facilities, and street and park lighting.

Xerez-Burgos III adds, “Despite our expansion, we’ve remained focused on our mission— making high-quality memorial care accessible to all. This commitment has been key to our success and will continue to drive us forward. My personal interest in memorial parks comes from the deep purpose these spaces serve. I’ve always been passionate about businesses that create a lasting impact. For me, memorial parks aren’t just about property; they’re about legacy, remembrance, and offering care when families need it the most. Knowing that we provide peace of mind to families during such vulnerable times is incredibly fulfilling, and it’s what keeps me dedicated to this industry.”

Forest Lake’s development as the country’s largest and most trusted network of memorial parks can be attributed to several key factors, says Xerez-Burgos III. “First, our mission to build a ‘better place’, where generations of family memories are treasured, immortalized, and celebrated by the living, has been at the heart of everything we do. This purpose-driven approach guides our decisions and ensures we remain focused on delivering meaningful services. Second, innovation has kept us ahead, whether through digital solutions that simplify memorial planning or our comprehensive care packages like Total Memorial Care, which includes ‘Libre Burol’ (free wake) service to help ease the family’s emotional and financial burden when availing interment services.”

“Lastly, our strong relationships—with our sellers, employees, and the communities we serve—have built a solid foundation of trust and support, which has been vital to our success,” concludes Xerez-Burgos III.
