Benguet solon seeking fresh term

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Reelectionist Benguet Rep. Eric Yap filed his Certificate of Candidacy before the Commission on Elections-Benguet here on Friday, October 4.

If given another mandate, Yap said he will finish development projects for the province such as the Benguet Convention Center, the Pilando Bridge, Itogon Municipal Hall currently under construction with a budget of P80 million and Phase 2 set to start in 2026, Mankayan Market with a P100 million allocation for Phase 1 and Phase 2 scheduled to begin in 2026, and roads connecting neighboring provinces.

Also filing COCs were reelectionist Benguet Gov. Melchor Diclas, provincial board member Mary Rose Fongwan-Kepes for vice governor, Mayor Romeo Salda of this capital town for provincial board member in the second district, along with Tublay Mayor Armando Lauro, Buguias Mayor Ruben Tindaan, Kapangan Mayor Manny Fermin, former Mankayan Frenzel Ayong, and provincial board member Neptali Camsol, and reelectionist provincial board members Alexander Fianza and Joannes Amuesen of the first district and Lady Charmaine Molintas Likigan, provincial board member.

Meanwhile, Vice Gov. Ericson “Tagel” Felipe on Friday filed a Certificate of Candidacy for congressman under the President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.

Also filing their candidacies were former Vice Govenors Johnny Waguis for governor and Nelson Dangwa for vice governor, former Itogon Councilor Johnny Galutan, educator and women's leader Myrna Tomino Nazarro, and former Bokod Councilor and media personality Jhonar ‘Kwarog’ Rebutazo for board members in the first district; and Board Member Joel Tingbaoen Jr., former Board Member Jim Botiwey, Atty. Thorrsson Keith, and former Department of Public Works and Highways Assistant Regional Director Alexander Castañeda.

An independent candidate, Adam Yap, who shares the same surname as Rep. Yap, filed his COC for congressman of Benguet on October 2.
