Mayor Joy Belmonte highlighted the importance of science, technology, and innovation in addressing challenges and creating a brighter future.
“This brings hope in the face of challenges, whether it's improving healthcare, protecting our environment, or driving economic growth. Many of you here in this room are leading the charge in these endeavors through the good work that you do as pioneers, experts, and advocates. Your efforts are laying the foundation for a better tomorrow. And we are inspired by what you all have accomplished and continue to accomplish,” she said.
Belmonte also expressed the city’s ambition to be the knowledge industry capital of the Philippines.
“We in Quezon City share this commitment as we take strides towards the dream of becoming the knowledge industry capital of the Philippines,” she said.

She encouraged the event to foster critical thinking, and curiosity, and provide resources to advance science and technology for the next generation.
“It is my hope that the activities in this RSTW will become the platform for engaging in meaningful discussions about not just what we can do with science and technology, but what we should do,” Belmonte added.
She also invited innovators to pilot their projects in Quezon City.
“If you need a city to pilot any one of your innovations, please consider Quezon City. We aim to be a center of innovation,” she said.
The event was attended by Quezon City’s Assistant City Administrator Alberto Kimpo, DOST-NCR Regional Director Engr. Romelen T. Tresvalles, DOST Secretary Dr. Renato Solidum Jr., DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operation Engr. Sancho Mabborang, and other DOST officials.
