Outstanding QCitizens honored in 22nd Manuel L. Quezon Gawad Parangal


Outstanding Quezon City residents were honored at the 22nd Manuel L. Quezon Gawad Parangal on Wednesday, October 31, at the MICE Center in Quezon City.

According to the city’s Public Information Office, five individuals and one group received the Makabagong Gawad Parangal trophy, while 127 city government employees were recognized as service awardees.

Additionally, four centenarians were honored during the ceremony.

Mayor Joy Belmonte and Vice Mayor Gian Sotto led the presentation of the "Makabagong Gawad Parangal" trophy, designed by renowned visual artist and past awardee Toym Imao, symbolizing innovation and service in Quezon City.

The awardees included:

Dr. Herdee Gloriane Luna, founder of ACT Now Plus, who addresses breast and cervical cancer within communities.

Autism Society Philippines, which promotes an open and inclusive environment, especially for individuals within the autism sector.

Maria Elena Ruiz, who initiated ecological solid waste management in Barangay Blue Ridge B.

Edilberto Palacio, chairman of the Holy Spirit TODA board, who championed community resilience and assisted tricycle drivers heavily impacted by the pandemic.

Dr. Alex Brillantes, a key advocate and lobbyist for Philippine Building Act legislation

Dr. Benito Pacheco is recognized for promoting good governance and responsive public administration among officials through training and capacity-building workshops.

Meanwhile, 127 local government employees were recognized for over 40 years of service to the city and its residents, and four centenarians were awarded incentives for their lifelong contributions to the development of the city.

The Manuel L. Quezon Gawad Parangal honors individuals and organizations whose dedication and service embody Quezon City's vision of an inclusive, progressive community.
