The Batanes Provincial Mobile Force Platoon and the Batanes Police Provincial Office led by Police Major Gil Pagulayan Jr., chief of the PHRAO, helped residents secure their houses by tying them with rope to the ground.

This measure will prevent houses from being blown away by Leon’s fierce winds.

Police and the provincial government led by Gov. Marilou Cayco also reminded the people to be updated on Leon though various media.

Fishermen were ordered not to venture out to sea and people were asked not to cross raging flood and remain in their houses during heavy rain and strong winds.

Police assured that they are on alert for the safety of the people during Leon.

People can call 09985988190 (Batanes Police Provincial Office) and 09989673151 (Batanes Provincial Mobile Force Platoon) for assistance.

Meanwhile, the Batanes Electric Cooperative will cut electricity in the province in preparation for Leon.

A total plant shutdown will be implemented effective 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Batanelco said this measure will ensure the safety of customers, line workers, and facilities.

The electric cooperative reminded the people to be always on alert for their safety.

Meanwhile, the Basco Cathedral Pastoral Center is ready to accommodate Leon evacuees with provisions for them.
