Low-cost carrier AirAsia Philippines Inc. saw flight bookings in the upcoming Christmas travel season already surge to over half a million as travel appetite continues to grow.
On Tuesday, Nov. 19, AirAsia said that it already sold more than 500,000 seats for the busiest travel season from December 1 to January 31 2025.
“While we adequately prepare for the holiday rush, we are already seeing an early surge in passenger traffic. Based on passenger booking trends, we expect a further increase in bookings for immediate travels,” said AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer Ricky Isla.
In the weeks leading up to the Christmas season, AirAsia said it would deploy sufficient manpower at check-in counters, ensure efficient on-time performance, and handle baggage immediately to improve overall productivity for its customers.
It said it was closely coordinating with and supporting the New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC), operator of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, in its efforts to enhance customer experience at the country’s main gateway.
The company also encouraged travelers to plan ahead to ensure a smoother and more efficient travel journey.
“Safety is very important to AirAsia. Alongside this line, our team of highly skilled engineers and technicians reiterate our commitment to the highest standards of aircraft servicing and maintenance during the busiest time of the year among Filipinos. Our guests can fly with confidence and peace of mind because we deeply value what’s important to them—safe, reliable and convenient travels,” he said.
Last week, NNIC said it was expecting a spike in the number of travelers at NAIA to 50.2 million annually while its designed capacity can only accommodate 35 million passengers yearly.
It also promised a 50-percent better experience in the upcoming Christmas season amid improvements implemented in its first 60 days of takeover.
