TACLOBAN CITY – Over 2,400 policemen were deployed to secure All Saints’ Day in Eastern Visayas.
Their deployment began on Oct. 29 in high-traffic areas, including 326 cemeteries and memorial parks, as well as transport terminals, ports, and other public locations with increased foot traffic.
Four-hundred twelve police assistance desks have been established to provide immediate support and maintain peace and order.
Police Brig. Gen. Jay Gumigad, Police Regional Office-8 director, stressed the importance of coordinated security efforts with local government units and law enforcement agencies to enhance security measures.
“Additionally, we will involve force multipliers and enlist the support of the advocacy support groups to bolster the operation and to ensure that a comprehensive security strategy is in place,” he said.
Checkpoints and policing interventions will be implemented throughout the region during “Undas.”
"Our goal is to increase police visibility and take proactive steps to prevent any criminal activity. This heightened presence and preparedness will help ensure a safer environment for all who participate in Undas 2024," Gumigad said.
