Nominations for 2025 Datu Bago Award kick off

DAVAO CITY – The Datu Bago Awardees Inc. announced on Tuesday, October 1, that they are now accepting nominations for the 2025 Datu Bago Award, the highest honor given by the Davao City government.

The annual award honors individuals who have dedicated themselves to excellence and made important contributions to this city’s growth.

Datu Bago Board of Trustees chairperson Councilor Pilar Braga, chairperson of the Committee on Education, Culture and Arts, and Science and Technology of the city council, emphasized the importance of the award in honoring people who represent the spirit of Davao.

“The Datu Bago Award is a tribute to the exceptional Dabawenyos whose dedication, vision, and passion have propelled our city forward,” said Braga in a statement.

Braga added that the contributions of these people serve as an inspiration for everyone to pursue excellence.

“We encouraged the community to participate by nominating individuals who represent the best of Davao and who have made a lasting impact on our city,” the councilor said.

She urged the people of Davao to nominate individuals who demonstrate exemplary competence and unwavering dedication and serve as role models to the community.

Braga said this is a unique opportunity to honor those whose work has left an indelible mark here.

Nomination forms are available at the Office of Councilor Pilar C. Braga, Office of the President, University of Mindanao, Bolton St.; Habi at Kape, Rogen Inn, Mount Apo; Annipie’s Bakery and Café in Ecoland, Quimpo Boulevard; Office of the School President, Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School; and Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku, Angliongto Ave.

The deadline for submission is December 27, 2024.

The Datu Bago Awards, established in 1969, is the highest honor the city government gives to people who have provided exceptional service, leadership, and contributions to Davao City.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte is the sole recipient of the Datu Bago Award in the 2024 edition. Duterte was conferred the Datu Bago award for his outstanding and transformative contributions to peace and order, progress, and development in Davao City.
