Over P400K worth of internet cable wires seized in QC


A total of P404,621 worth of internet cable wires was seized by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) at Barangay Sta. Teresita, Quezon City on Monday, October 28.

Police identified the suspects as Juaco Nico Serrano, 26; Germalyn Ampalayuhan, 51; and Jazzdean Lopezon, 23, who were all residents of Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City, along with Jhon Philip Lorete, 22, and Daniel Benjamin, 31, both residents of Valenzuela City. 

 

According to the police report, Barangay Sta. Teresita officials received a tip about illegal cable wire cutting around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Mayon and Dapitan Streets. 

 

Officers from La Loma Police Station (PS 1) quickly responded and apprehended the suspects pulling the cable wires, leading to their immediate arrest. 

 

Confiscated from the arrested suspects were 15 pieces of internet copper cable wires, with 2,400 pairs x 0.4 gauge worth P404,621, and a bolt cutter.

 

 The arrested suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act 10515 or the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013.
