2 Grade 9 students killed in Tabuk City motorcycle-tricycle collision


TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Two Grade 9 students were killed and three individuals were injured in a collision between a motorcycle and a tricycle here on Monday, Oct. 28.

Police Master Sgt. Prodencio Atas, Tabuk police spokesperson, identified the fatalities as Hazam B. Bawalan and John Raye S. Vasquez, back riders of the motorcycle driven by Webster S. Balucnit, also a Grade 9 student. 

Investigation said Balucnit's motorcycle jumped over the center island of the Manuel Agyao Boulevard and crashed into an approaching tricycle.

Balucnit and his back riders were injured, along with Francis A. Mag-aso, 46, tricycle driver, and passenger, Joyce A. Bangguiyao, a teacher.

Police took Balucnit and companions to the hospital where Bawalan and Vazquez were declared dead.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation on the accident.
