SPD to deploy 2,627 cops for safe observance of Undas 2024

As the Undas holiday approaches, the Southern Police District (SPD) is set to deploy around 2,627 personnel to various cemeteries in Southern Metro Manila to ensure a peaceful and orderly observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day in November.

The SPD personnel will be deployed across 26 cemeteries, 20 columbaria, key border points, and major transport hubs like bus terminals, MRT/LRT stations, and airports.

SPD said it is already coordinating with local authorities, government units, and volunteers to enhance better security throughout the area as a large number of visitors at cemeteries are expected.

To ensure the public's safety, security measures such as checkpoints, anti-crime operations, foot and mobile patrols, tactical motorcycle units, and quick response team units such as SWAT and EOD-K9 will also be conducted.

Authorities will also ensure to manage heavy traffic around the areas and other gathering spots as well as to avoid any risk of accidents.

For emergencies, medical teams will also be on standby to offer immediate assistance if needed.

According to SPD chief Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang, public safety is their top priority, so he encouraged them to be vigilant all the time and report to them any suspicious activities.

"We encourage everyone to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or assistance desk. By working together, we can ensure a peaceful and safe Undas celebration," Yang said.
