Rescue vehicle kills girl, 9, in Quezon

CALAUAG, Quezon – A nine-year-old girl was killed after she was hit by a rescue vehicle in this town on Friday afternoon, Oct. 25.

Police identified the victim as Mary Bithany Cambronero Añonuevo.

Investigation said the victim was standing on the shoulder of the Calauag-Guinayangan Provincial Road in Barangay Rizal Ibaba when she was accidentally bumped by the Toyota Hi-Lux rescue vehicle with license plates  DBM-6542 driven by Dexter, 49.

The victim sustained injuries and was taken to the Calauag Infirmary Hospital by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office where she was declared dead.

Police said Dexter was reportedly drunk when the incident happened.

The suspect, who is now under police custody, faces a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
