CAMP JUAN, Ilocos Norte – Ilocos Norte police director Police Col. Frederick E. Obar has created a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to probe the murder of barangay chairman Mark Adrian P. Barba and his two companions in Barangay 22 San Guillermo, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte before dawn on Saturday, Oct. 27.

A follow-up investigation said Barba, chairman of Barangay 6 San Juan Bautista here and president of the town’s Association of Barangay Chairman (ABC), with Raffy Ulep, 39, and Lord Wyne Gian Menor, 26, were on their way home from a cockpit arena when they were ambushed by unidentified gunmen.
POLICE have created a Special Investigation Task Group to dig deeper into the murder of a barangay captain in Ilocos Norte on Oct. 26.
Menor lost control of their vehicle and rammed a parked Toyota Fortuner Sports Utility Vehicle in front of a hotel.
The suspects fled and the victims were taken by police to the hospital where they were declared dead.
Scene-of-the-Crime Operatives recovered 40 empty bullet shells in the area.
San Nicolas Mayor Mike Hernando here condemned the killing and urged the police to expedite their investigation and give justice to the victims' families.
Hernando appealed to witnesses to appear and provide information to the police.
Barba was the second barangay chairman killed in this municipality south of the provincial capital Laoag City.
Francisco Bagay Jr., 45, of Barangay 5 San Silvestre was shot dead in his house on Sept. 20.
