Inside Cebu’s new Japanese-inspired mall, SM J Mall
At a glance
Japan might seem leagues away but this new hotspot in Cebu makes visitors feel otherwise. Once known as the JCenter Mall in Mandaue City, the Japanese-inspired SM J Mall is the latest in SM Supermalls’ roster of modern entertainment spots across the Philippines.
At a pre-opening ceremony, Taiko drums beat away, pumping a hyped up energy to a select group of guests and insiders, such as partners, store owners, and media friends, all toasting to the success and the future of SM J Mall.
Apart from the mall-wide pre-game ceremonies led by SM Supermalls president Steven Tan, every store that was ready for opening day held its own celebration. On the second level, by the Izakaya terrace, a spread of Japanese cuisine and an endless flow of sake and other celebratory drinks provided a sumptuous taste of what was to come.
