Sexagenarian drowns in Mountain Province


SABANGAN, Mountain Province – A 60-year-old man drowned on the Chico River here on Thursday, Oct. 24.

The victim was identified as Francis "Lacaben" Angel from this town.

AUTHORITIES recover the body of a drowning victim on the Chico River in Bontoc, Mountain Province.

Angel went missing and believed to have been carried downstream by the strong current of the river.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council conducted a search and rescue with provincial and municipal counterparts on the Chico River.

Angel’s body was found and retrieved in Bontoc, this province.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council condoled with the family of the victim. It credited  volunteerism or binnadang among the people of Mountain Province for the recovery of the victim’s body. 

"The PDRRMC further extends its gratitude to everyone who helped in the search and rescue and retrieval operations and who in one way or another showed support to the latest calamity that beset the province. Indeed, there is no trial that could not be overcome by the united efforts of selfless people who cares, coupled with the grace from the Almighty," Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr. said.
