A total of 42 road sections in seven regions were rendered impassable due to Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine”, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported on Friday, Oct. 25.
In a travel advisory, the DPWH said the affected areas include eight road sections in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), nine in the National Capital Region (NCR), one in Region I, two in Region II, one in Region III, six in Region IV-A, and 15 in Region V.
The closures were primarily caused by soil collapse, flooding, pavement damage, landslides, fallen trees, rockslides, and collapsed bridges, the DPWH said.
Additionally, the advisory reported that three national bridges—one in Region II, one in Region IV-A, and one in Region V—are currently impassable due to flooding and structural damage.
Limited access was also noted in 14 road sections, particularly in Regions IV-A and V, where travel restrictions are in place due to flooding, road collapses, and soil erosion.
Despite these disruptions, the DPWH confirmed that all other national roads and bridges in storm-affected areas remain open to vehicular traffic.
