Jacob Clemente is back! Several years after his OPM hit "Naghihintay" resonated with fans across the country, Jacob returns with a fresh new track, “Muntik Na,” released under the banner of Off The Record, led by Ricky Ilacad. Dropped on Oct. 18, 2024, “Muntik Na” marks Jacob's long-awaited comeback to the OPM scene and is now available on all major streaming platforms.

The story behind 'Muntik Na'

Inspired by an almost biking accident, Jacob Clemente brings an emotionally charged narrative to life in “Muntik Na.” The phrase “muntik na” (which translates to "almost" in English) resonated with him during an incident where he narrowly avoided a crash. Reflecting on this, he crafted a song for those who, like him, came close to something significant but missed out—especially in love.

"The song is for the 'what could have been' moments—the star-crossed lovers who were just not meant to be," Jacob shares.

A nostalgic soundscape

"Muntik Na" delves into the synthwave and synth-ballad genres, drawing inspiration from music legends like Michael Jackson, Prince, The Beatles, and Depeche Mode. The fusion of nostalgia with modern soundscapes enhances the track’s emotional weight, blending beauty and emptiness.

“I want listeners to reminisce about their own ‘what if’ relationships—the ones that almost happened,” Jacob says.

A stunning visual accompaniment

The single is paired with a visually captivating music video set in the iconic Joshua Tree National Park. The park’s vast, surreal landscape mirrors the feeling of “almosts” in life—beautiful yet filled with emptiness, much like the memories of relationships that never fully blossomed. The Joshua Tree, unique to this desert, serves as a metaphor for these memories, existing only in our minds. The video is set to be released today, Oct. 25, at 6 PM Philippine time.
