LIST: Major banks temporarily close amid Tropical Storm ‘Kristine’

Several major banks have temporarily closed branches or implemented shortened operating hours in the wake of Tropical Storm “Kristine” on Thursday, Oct. 24.

To ensure the safety of both customers and employees, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) announced full closure of some branches Thursday. Customers are encouraged to utilize BPI's online and mobile banking platforms for their banking needs.

Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) took a similar approach, focusing on safety by temporarily closing some branches and reducing hours at others.

ATMs and Cash Accept Machines (CAMs) will remain operational, while online and mobile banking services are readily available for customers seeking alternative banking options.

Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) also confirmed closures and adjusted schedules for some branches.

Landbank advised customers to visit their official website for specific details regarding branch operations on October 24.

BDO Unibank (BDO) also announced temporary branch closures due to Typhoon Kristine.

While a complete list of affected branches is available on BDO's website, the bank assures continued service through alternative channels.

BDO said that customers can still access their banking needs through BDO Pay, the BDO Online App, and BDO ATMs, which remain fully operational for transactions and inquiries.

Late Wednesday, Malacañang suspended work and classes in Luzon Thursday due to the expected heavy rainfall brought by “Kristine.”

Malacañang’s directive covers government offices and schools throughout Luzon, with exceptions for agencies crucial to disaster response and essential services.
