DSWD-6 distributes relief items to people affected by ‘Kristine’


ILOILO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development-6 has started distributing relief items for people affected by severe tropical storm “Kristine” in Western Visayas.

Arwin O. Razo, DSWD-6 officer-in-charge, said they have around P146 million in relief goods.

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-6 distributes food packs to residents in Batad town, Iloilo province affected by severe tropical storm ‘Kristine.’ 

The DSWD-6 Disaster Response Management Division said P89.2-million or 114,568 food packs has been prepared for affected residents in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.

The DSWD-6 also has P57-million worth of non-food items composed of family kits, sleeping kits, hygiene kits, kitchen kits, family tents, and modular tents.

Razo has activated the DSWD Quick Response Team  to respond and coordinate with local government units.

The region is experiencing strong winds and intermittent heavy rainfall as of Thursday, Oct. 24.
