178 families affected by ‘Kristine’ in Iloilo City


ILOILO CITY – One-hundred seventy-eight families or 715 individuals from coastal barangays here were displaced by severe tropical storm “Kristine” in this city as of 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.

The Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said 287 passengers were stranded in wharves – passengers of boats from this city to the island-province of Guimaras and vice versa.

The Iloilo City DRRMO added that 82 houses were damaged, particularly their roofs by strong winds.

Fifty-five trees were toppled by  strong winds while power supply went on and off as lines were affected by fallen trees.
