Police net P7-M shabu in Lapu-Lapu City


CEBU CITY – A 39-year-old woman was arrested with almost P7-million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City past midnight on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Police said that the suspect, a certain Marie, was listed as a high-value individual in the illegal drugs trade.

The City Intelligence Unit and City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office cornered the suspect in Sitio Sea Breeze.

The suspect is a resident of Sitio San Roque, Barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City.

Police Lt. Col. Christian Torres, spokesperson of the LLCPO, said the suspect yielded more than one kilo of shabu worth P6.9 million.

Torres said the suspect served as a “bodegera” (warehouse staff) who was tasked to safekeep illegal drugs which will be picked up and distributed by drug pushers in various areas in Metro Cebu.

A day before the operation in Lapu-Lapu, shabu worth P7 million was also seized in the province of Bohol and Mandaue City.

Packs of shabu valued at P3.4 million were seized from 39-year-old Ramonito Sebandal in Barangay Lourdes, Cortes, Bohol.

Police said Sedanal was previously arrested for drug pushing and went back to peddling shabu when he was released from jail.

Shabu worth P3.4 million was seized from a 29-year-old man in Barangay Subangdaku in Mandaue City. A .22 magnum revolver was also recovered from the suspect, police said.

Police Brig. Gen.  Anthony Aberin, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7), welcomed the series of successful anti-illegal drug operations.

"As the end of the year approaches, we are intensifying our relentless drive against criminality, ensuring the safety of everyone here in Central Visayas. The safety of everyone is our top priority," said Aberin.
