Classes, sea trips in Negros Occidental cancelled due to 'Kristine'


BACOLOD CITY – Classes in several local government units in Negros Occidental, including this city, and sea trips were cancelled on Tuesday, Oct. 22, due to heavy rain from tropical storm “Kristine.”

Mayor Albee Benitez here extended the suspension of classes in all public and private pre-school, elementary, high school, and senior high schools in this city on Oct. 22 due to the inclement weather.

The LGUs of Moises Padilla, E.B. Magalona, Silay, and Kabankalan in the province also suspended the classes on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-northern Negros Occidental announced that sea trips from Pulupandan to Guimaras and vice-versa of MV-Reiseschat 1 on Oct. 22 have been suspended due to unfavorable weather condition and rough seas.

The PCG alerted larger vessels against big waves and advised them to take extra precautionary measures during  unfavorable weather condition to avert maritime incidents.
