Razalan bares gains in six months as Iloilo top cop


ILOILO CITY – Police Col. Bayani Razalan bared his accomplishments in six months as Iloilo police chief over the weekend.

He became the Iloilo police chief last April 19, replacing Police Col. Ronaldo Palomo.

“I extend my gratitude to Ilonggos for supporting our efforts to make Iloilo a safer, more secure, progressive, and drug-free province," said Razalan.

The campaign against illegal drugs was among the top priorities in Razalan’s six-month leadership. Almost P47.4-million worth of suspected shabu was seized from 240 individuals in anti-drug operations from April 19 to October 19.

Two-hundred forty fugitives, of whom 131 were considered most wanted persons, were arrested.

Seventy-seven persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms and 93 guns were confiscated. A total of 421 firearms were recovered, including those voluntarily surrendered.

One-hundred ninety-seven individuals were nabbed for illegal gambling and P78,625 in bet money were confiscated.

The IPPO collaborated with the Provincial Dagat Task Force and arrested 486 persons for illegal fishing and P743,528  worth of illegally harvested fish were seized.

Two-hundred thirteen were caught for illegal quarrying and 211 vehicles were impounded.

Nine persons were arrested for illegal logging and P120,000 hot lumber were recovered.

Razalan has jurisdiction of 42 towns and the component city of Passi.
