PCG rescues 2 persons in Basilan sea mishap


ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard-Isabela Station rescued two persons after their boat capsized in the sea of Lampinigan Island, Isabela City, Basilan province on Monday, Oct. 21.

The PCG launched immediate rescue operations and deployed its response team on board HSRB-027 after learning about the incident.

The PCG spotted the capsized banca and rescued its two passengers, 20-year-old Junaid Maliki and 21-year-old Badar Maliki.

The two passengers said they were on their way to Lampinigan Island on board a boat loaded with 30 gallons of water when they encountered huge waves that capsized their boat.

The banca was towed towards the shoreline of Barangay Riverside in Isabela City while the passengers were turned over to the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office of Isabela for disposition.

They were subjected to a medical checkup and were declared in good physical condition.
