Pasig court OKs Quiboloy’s appearance in Senate Oct. 23 probe

The Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 has granted the Senate’s request for Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder and televangelist Apollo Quiboloy to appear at the Committee on Women and Children’s investigation on Wednesday, October 23.

“The letter-request to allow the appearance of the accused before the public hearing of the Senate committee on women, children, family relations and gender equality on October 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. is hereby granted,” the Pasig court order read.

Quiboloy is currently detained at the Pasig City Jail. The court has ordered it as well as the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Nagpayong, Brgy. Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City and the Chief of PNP Custodial Center, Camp Crame, Quezon City to bring and escort Quiboloy to the Senate.

The court also allowed Quiboloy’s alleged cohorts—Jackielyn Wong Roy, Cresente Chavez Canada alias Enteng, Ingrid Chavez Canada, Paulene Chavez Canada, and Sylvia Calija Cemanes—to attend the hearing.

All accused, including Quiboloy are facing human trafficking, child abuse, rape, and other criminal cases.

The order was penned by presiding judge Rainelda Estacio-Montesa.

Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero said the Senate will put in place ample security measures to ensure the safety of all the resource persons in the hearing.
