Man arrested for threatening, robbing woman in Rizal


A 20-year-old man was arrested for robbing and threatening a woman with a bladed weapon in Barangay Silangan, San Mateo, Rizal.

The Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the suspect as “Tikas.” He was arrested on Sunday, October 20, following a complaint filed against him by his victim.

According to the 35-year-old victim, she was on her way home at around 11 p.m. when the suspect suddenly threatened her with a sharp object and forcibly took her bag, which contained her gadgets and other belongings worth a total of P62,200.

Authorities were unable to recover the victim's stolen belongings, but they did recover the sharp objects he used, such as an ice pick and a bolo.

They also recovered from the suspect four plastic sachets containing around 0.5 grams of suspected shabu worth P3,400 and four sachets of suspected marijuana weighing around 2.0 grams and valued at P240.

The suspect is currently detained at the San Mateo Municipal Police Station and is facing charges of robbery, and violations of Batas Pambansa 6 (Illegal Possession of Bladed Weapon) and Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
