Singer-songwriter Waltz recently dropped his new single, "Marahuyo," the latest proof of his continued growth as an artist. The wistful song easily captivated listeners with its soulful melody and heartfelt lyrics. Within days of its launch, "Marahuyo" (which means to be enchanted or charmed) found its way to Spotify’s *Fresh Finds Philippines* playlist.

Waltz (Jonn Walter Dumagan in real life)  co-wrote "Marahuyo" with Raquel Federico Gutierrez. The song is about someone who professes love and commitment to the beloved, no matter what the odds. "Kahit ilang beses man akong nasaktan/ Ilang libong galos ay di ko ramdam/ Dahil tayo ay pinag-isa."

The young musician from Leyte discovered he had a gift for music when he was only nine years old, then formally began his career at the age of 18 with the band "Down by 18". They got off to a good start with the hit song *Piring* and even earned  a nomination at the PMPC Star Awards for Music. However, it was just the beginning for Waltz, who then embarked on a solo career with his debut single "Bahaghari" under Viva Records. Two years later, he signed up with Ant Savvy Artist Management where he released "Ikaw" - about someone who falls in love and couldn't believe his luck. It didn't take long for a major label like EMI Records and Universal Music Group to spot Waltz' potential. Under their wing, the Gen Z artist had a prolific streak and came up with three songs within the span of one year: "Paano," Cindy" and now "Marahuyo."

Waltz also wrote "Tugatog" for the Tugatog Music Festival and performed at Coke Studio's Kadayawan and Masskara festivals. In addition to his music. he continues to create digital content for his growing fan base.

When asked who he wants to have a song collaboration with, he replied: “Sa international, gusto ko po sana with Maroon 5, while sa local naman, si rapper  Flow G , napakagaling po kasi. I am also hoping to have a duet with either Moira or Janine Tenoso.”

As for his goal or dream as a musician, Waltz said being listened to and recognized is enough.

"Pinaka-dream ko na makilala yung mga songs ko at mahalin ako ng  maraming tao. Kasi yung mga songs ko, tinuturing ko silang parang mga anak ko, Gusto ko silang mag-flourish at mapakinggan  kasi feeling ko karapat dapat naman," he mused.

(My dream is to be loved by many and for my songs to be acknowledged. I consider my songs to be like my children. I want them to flourish and be patronized because they deserve it.)

Lend an ear to "Marahuyo" now streaming on all digital music platforms.
