Vendor killed, back rider hurt in motorcycle-closed van collision

SARIAYA, Quezon – A 20-year-old vendor was killed and his minor back rider was injured in a collision between their motorcycle and an aluminum closed van in Barangay Santo Cristo, this town, on Saturday night, Oct. 19.

Police identified the victim as Jhon, single, of Barangay Concepcion Palasan here.

Investigation said the van with license plates CAL-3062 driven by Rommel, 29, of Candelaria, Quezon, hit the rear right side of the motorcycle, causing the victim and his back rider, Beverly, to crash on the pavement.

Jhon was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead due to severe injuries. Beverly was treated in a hospital.

Rommel, who was unhurt, faces a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injury, and property damage.
