A total of 76 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from conflict-torn Lebanon are now back in the country amid the continuous repatriation program of the government, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the arrival of the 76 OFWs on Sunday night, Oct. 20, brought to 636 the total number of Filipino migrant workers who were transported back in the country since the repatriation started in October last year.

“There were two dependents who arrived on Sunday night and this brings to 32 the total number of dependents from Lebanon under the government’s voluntary repatriation program,” said Cacdac.

The 76 OFWs arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Sunday night via the Emirates EK 334.

The national government has started the repatriation program for OFWs in conflict-affected areas in the Middle east since the Oct. 7 attack on Israel last year.

Israel has expanded the air assaults in Lebanon to run after Hezbollah fighters that were tagged in the missile attacks on Israel.

Cacdac welcomed the OFWs at the NAIA with DMW Undersecretaries Patricia Yvonne Caunan and Bernard Olalia, DMW Assistant Secretary Venecio Legaspi, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Deputy Administrator Honey Quiño.
