ZAMBOANGA CITY – Mayor John Dalipe led the presentation of the Parade of Lights and the switch on of lights at the Zamboanga City Hall on Tuesday, October 1, the start of month-long festivities in the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival here.

Nineteen colorful floats bedecked with lights featuring the city’s top tourist spots and attractions paraded before a makeshift stage beside the Zamboanga City Hall where elected officials and judges were stationed.
The first prize amounting to P250,000 went to S. Aliangan Coco Lumber, a private sector participant, while second and third prizes of P200,000 and P150,000 went to Pasonanca National High School and Barangay San Roque, respectively.
Non-winning participants received P50,000 each.
The Zamboanga City Hall lit up after a countdown led by Dalipe.
The Parade of Lights and the switch on of lights at the Zamboanga City Hall are two of the main events for the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
Special guests of the event include National Authority for Child Care Undersecretary Janella Ejercito-Estrada, Assistant Secretary Weng Makalintal, and Ambassadors Jake Ejercito and Thou Reyes.
Local officials who attended the event were Vice Mayor Pinpin Pareja and Councilors Jimmy Villaflores, Jihan Edding, and CJ Dalipe, and former Mayor Manny Dalipe.
Cosechas de Zamboanga
The Cosechas de Zamboanga agricultural trade fair opened at Plaza Pershing in Zamboanga City on Tuesday as one of the activities in this year’s Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
The Cosechas de Zamboanga (Zamboanga’s Harvest or Crops) is an annual activity held to promote and highlight the agricultural sector.
Mayor John Dalipe and Pareja led ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Mayor Dalipe lauded the agricultural sector’s contributions to the local economy and assured his administration’s support for the city’s farmers and fisherfolks.
Forty stalls featuring agricultural produce, flowers, and plants are participating. Cosechas de Zamboanga ends on October 20.
