Angels in heaven

REFLECTIONS TODAY

Gird your loins

Whenever we profess the Nicene Creed and say, “I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible…” we are reminded that God created not only the material world, but also the spiritual world, that is, the invisible, the unseen.

This has always been part of our faith. We are also reminded when we pray to our guardian angel that it is because of God’s love that he stations an angel for each one of us. Along with our conscience and the Holy Spirit, guardian angels safeguard our sanctity.
Have we been fully cooperative with our guardian angels in their mission of furthering our sanctification?

Gospel • Matthew 18:1-5, 10

The disciples approached Jesus and said, “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?”

He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said, “Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven.

Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.”
