Caraga cops net 2,400 fugitives in 10 months


CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Police arrested 2,400 fugitives – 402 most wanted persons and 2,016 other wanted individuals – in the Caraga region from Jan. 1 to Oct. 15.

Police Regional Office 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said the Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office arrested 543, followed by the Surigao del Sur PPO with 531, Butuan City Police Office with 512, and Surigao del Norte PPO, Agusan del Norte PPO, and Dinagat Islands PPO arrested 393, 368, and 71, respectively.

“PNP-Caraga has reached this milestone because of the support of all stakeholders who have stood with us in addressing criminality across the region,” he said. 

“With the help of those who share our vision, the goal of ensuring the safety and security of Caraga becomes achievable,” said Nazarro.

Meanwhile, police seized suspected shabu valued at P389,414.60 and 13 suspected drug pushers were arrested during a Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations in the Caraga region from Oct. 15 to 16.

Three suspects were nabbed  in Agusan del Sur, seven in the provinces of Surigao, and three in Butuan City in 14 anti-illegal drug operations.

Nazarro said 11 were caught during buy-bust operations and two were apprehended through search warrants issued by the courts.

He said that  57.267 grams of shabu and drug paraphernalia were seized from the suspects who will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“I commend the cooperation of every peace-loving Caraganon to the success of these operations. Rest assured that we remain dedicated to implementing more stringent and intelligence-driven anti-illegal drug operations to capture those involved in the drug menace,” Nazarro added.
