Motorboat struck by unidentified vessel in Palawan; 2 passengers rescued

A motorboat was dangerously hit by an unidentified vessel in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported on Friday, Oct. 18.

MBCA “Jerrylyn” was stationary when it was struck by the vessel at approximately 12 nautical miles east off Canigaran Beach in the vicinity waters of Barangay Bancao-Bancao last Oct. 16.

As a result of the allision, two passengers were forced to jump overboard.

Responding search and rescue (SAR) teams from the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Central Palawan found the passengers and brought them to safety. Their identities were not revealed by the PCG.

“The rescued individuals were brought to the Puerto Princesa Fish Port, where they received thorough medical evaluations,” the PCG said.

Meanwhile, a comprehensive investigation was conducted to identify the vessel at fault.
