Over 20 cars found abandoned at NAIA parking areas

The new management of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) discovered more than 20 abandoned cars in its parking facilities.

In a statement, the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) said some of the cars were found to be staying in parking slots since 2014.

The NNIC said it is now taking appropriate actions to remove the abandoned vehicles but said it will offer a final  chance to reclaim their cars before they are towed and impounded.

The owners, it said,  must present proof of ownership and valid identification to reclaim their vehicles.

After a grace period, the NNIC said unclaimed vehicles will be towed and impounded at government facilities, adding that it will also coordinate with other agencies to ensure proper handling.

“These abandoned vehicles are taking up space that should be available for passengers. They are also a security and safety concern, especially in their deteriorating states,” the statement read.

"The NNIC is conducting further audits across all NAIA terminals and expects the number of abandoned vehicles to rise," it added.
