Manila Water to wrap up pipe expansion works in Rizal

East zone concessionaire Manila Water Co. Inc. is nearly complete with its mainline extension project that could help expand its supply service to more than 24,000 residents and 4,000 households in Antipolo City, Rizal.

Manila Water’s project in Sitio Tanza and Tolosa Ville in Rizal province began early this year and is expected to be completed by December.

According to the water utility firm, this would also boost a 6.5 percent improvement in service coverage in Barangay San Jose in Antipolo City, as it would initially benefit 1,405 new domestic service connections that would improve gradually once the project is operational.

Jeric Sevilla, Manila Water corporate communications director, said that the concessionaire also aims at the economic growth of the community and stated that “we find ways to make water accessible to the communities we serve to enable progress.”

“That is why our company has been rolling out service expansion projects, especially in far-flung areas in Rizal,” he added.

According to Manila Water, the service expansion works consist of installing a 280-millimeter (mm) high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe that would span 2.73 kilometers (km) and another HDPE pipe that would stretch to nearly three km.

These constructions would be interconnected to the 1600 mm steel pipe along the Marcos Highway.

This project is part of the company’s four-year Service Improvement Plan that began in 2023.

Manila Water said that it is aiming to extend its services to the underserved communities within the Eastern part of Metro Manila and Rizal, ensuring reliable and accessible quality water supply.

Last week, the concessionaire announced that three of its facilities will integrate solar power systems to minimize greenhouse gas emissions in its operations and could also lessen the impact of water rates of its customers.
