TV host Willie Revillame has hired two-time Olympian Carlos Yulo's sports therapist to help him with his overall fitness in running for senator in the 2025 elections.

Hazel Calawod is the Australian-licensed occupational therapist who took care of Carlos' mental health for the Paris Olympics. However, she revealed that she wasn't referred to Willie, but hired through the professional networking site, LinkedIn.

"I was contacted by the consultant (of Willie) because I think they studied my credentials on LinkedIn. His team reviewed how I trained Carlos and they saw how precise I was in adjusting the biomechanical alignments, so that's it," the pretty and petite Hazel remarked.

Hazel was one of the speakers at the "Move With PowHER" event of Watsons Philippines, where she spoke about her advocacy for women's empowerment.

Hazel believes that she was hired because she "understands rehabilitation well" and can customize a routine for Willie, which will help him deal with the mental and physical demands of the election campaign. The TV host is running as a senator in the May polls.

"My primary goal is to lessen the risk of lifestyle diseases for Mr. Willie Revillame. And also to figure out how a busy person can be healthy as well, especially since he's already a senior," she remarked.

She then revealed her game plan for the TV host.  "One, I intend to provide Sir Willie short training programs  to just give him a chance to get used to his system first. Because, of course, it's not possible for the body and mind to get used to it right away. Also, provide him brain-based physical exercises that can help lessen the pressure. There are exercises that you can actually do that are targeting the stress on the brain to lessen it. And then, I would like to delve into the nutritional aspect because that's where you'll really become healthy."

"Pay attention to what you eat, because what you eat is going to be digested, it's going to be part of your body. But if you don't pay attention to it, that can also be detrimental to your health overall," she added.

Hazel said that she is an advocate of fitness for the aged and is about to embark on a project with the International Gymnastics Federation on gymnastics for older adults.

"Even if you are retiring already, you should still be healthy. And hopefully, your pension, your savings, and your social security cost won't decrease. So you're just going to be able to enjoy life. The challenge for professionals like me is to get older people healthy because they also deserve to be healthy," she said.
