3 hurt, 300 families left homeless in Sta. Ana fire

More or less 300 families or 900 individuals were affected by the fire that broke out in a residential area in Barangay 775, Sta. Ana, Manila, on Tuesday morning, October 15.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), there were two firemen and one resident who sustained minor burns due to structural collapse.

In the initial report, the fire started around 6:12 a.m. 

It escalated to the second alarm at 6:15 a.m. and was immediately raised to the third alarm at 6:28 a.m.

Firefighters raised it to the fourth alarm at 6:48 a.m. because they were experiencing water shortage.

The Onyx Street was temporarily closed to motorists to give way for the arrival of the fire trucks. 

The fire was declared under control at 8:46 a.m. and was finally extinguished at 12:09 p.m.

Based on the initial investigation, an unattended candle caused the fire. 

BFP said more or less 100 houses were burned by the fire, while the estimated cost of damage is at P3-million.

Authorities continue to remind the residents to be cautious of the possible causes of fire.
